European Poker Tour Texas Holdem Tournaments: EPT Barcelona Open

Hosted by the very beautiful Casino Barcelona in Spain, the EPT Barcelona Open is one of the qualifying events of the European Poker Tour for its annual EPT Grand Final to be held in Monte Carlo, Monaco. This tournament is a world class Texas Holdem event that tries to put the spotlight on the brightest poker players in Europe. In the past few years, the tour has showed why Texas Holdem poker is very popular these days.

The European Poker Tour is a perfect example of what real international poker competition is all about. Participants from all over the world, particularly from European countries, have continued to grace this glorious Texas Holdem occasion. The EPT Barcelona Open tournament has been the starting point of the tour during its first four seasons.

During the first season of the tour, the EPT Barcelona Open offered a preview of more successful Texas Holdem events in the future. Luca Pagano of Italy, Gary Bush of England, and fellow countryman John Kabbaj were all present to compete. Adam Robak of Poland, Stefan Rapp of Austria, and Andreas Pournaras of Greece also made it to the final table. At the final round, it was Alexander Stevic of Sweden who defeated David O'Callaghan of Ireland for the prestigious title.

In the second season of the European Poker Tour, a different story transpired. Patrik Antonius of Finland, Patric Martensson of Sweden, and Gus Hansen of Denmark were among the main protagonists. Anton Bergstrom of Sweden, Dario Alioto of Italy, and Romain Feriolo of Spain also reached the final table. The final round saw a showdown between Jan Boubli of France and Christer Johansson of Sweden. In the end, Boubli got the best out of Johansson for the victory.

In season three of the European Poker Tour, the EPT Barcelona Open was indeed a classic. Jon Dull, David Daneshgar, and Phil Ivey were among the top participants from the U.S. David Gregory and Robin Keston paraded the flag of the United Kingdom. Jeff Lisandro of Italy and Joakim Geigert of Sweden were also present at the final table. At the final round, Bjorn-Erik Glenne of Norway showed why he is on top of the poker world with a victory over Ivey.

The fourth installment of the EPT Barcelona Open was also a success. It continued the wonderful tradition of featuring top Texas Holdem tournaments from all over Europe. Patrick Bruel of France, Nikolaus Jedlicka of Austria, and Adam Junglen of the U.S. were among the final contenders. Gregory Dyer of the U.S., Mika Paasonen of Finland, and Trond Eidsvig all reached the final table as well. At the final moments of this Texas Holdem tournament, Sander Lylloff of Denmark defeated Mark Teltscher of England for the title.
