Fun Poker Household Varieties
Plenty of poker variants can be found in a game of poker, and the amount of variations seem to expand immensely as the game's popularity all over the world and on the internet is continuously growing. Among these household poker games are the following: raz, lowball, pineapple, guts, and Indian poker.
The game of Raz is just played like the seven-card stud game, and the only difference is that the lowest of all hands would win the showdown. The game of Lowball, on the other hand, is a poker game that is played like Draw Poker which is a five-card draw, the only variation is that again, the lowest of the hands wins. The best hand that one may receive is a five-four-three-two-ace.
There is what we call the Pineapple poker variant as well, which is played like a Texas Hold 'Em, apart from the fact that the players are given three cards to begin with unlike Texas hold 'em that has only two. It is essential that the players discard the one out of the three hole cards prior to wagering in the first round.
Another game that is a household poker variation is the game called Guts. Here, two cards are being distributed to every player, wherein, each player can decide to opt out. Those players that remain have then the chance to win as the pot is given to the player that bears the highest hand. All the other players that wanted in on the game should then place into the pot whatever the winner of that particular game has taken out. A pair of aces is the highest hand that one can attain, and only high cards and pairs matter and count. The game then finalizes after only a single player says that he is "in", and this player in turn, collects the pot.
Indian Poker, on the other hand, is rather different in that only one card is given to every player, and that card is faced down. The players then would begin to hold their card facing up on their forehead. Every other player can see the other player's card. However, a particular player cannot see and is not allowed to see his own card. Each of the players then start betting on their own card based on what they have seen of the cards that the other player's hold on their forehead. The wagering done here continues for as long a period of time as is wanted, and the end of the game is that the winner with the highest card wins. This type of poker variation is oftentimes played just for laughs or simply for fun and enjoyment and is usually not taken seriously. However, many other players would find a distinctive value in being able to read the player's ability to make a bluff as the manner in which they place a wager would certainly reveal their style of playing.
These poker variations are certainly enjoyable and light, and can be played during an informal party or drinking session.
