How do you say it in poker

Novice poker players find it hard to catch up on conversations filled with poker terms, that is why I created this list of poker terms that will help you understand what poker professionals are talking about.

Add-on - in poker, this is also known as rebuy. This act is done before all your chips have gone, right in the middle of a game. You do this so you could play more rounds. Some poker tournaments allow one add-on per game, but other poker tournaments do not allow this at all.

Calling station - this is another term for a passive poker player. This type of poker player is the opposite of the aggressive poker player. A calling station mostly calls, and rarely raises or reraises.

Collusion - related to chip dumping. In poker, this is a way of cheating by two or more people. The collusion can be among players only, or can also involve the dealer or a bystander.

Dead hand - in poker, this means a hand that cannot be played because of a certain reason. One of the reasons may be that the poker player who owns this hand has been found to place incorrect amount of forced bet. Another would be that the owner has touched another poker player's cards.

Drop - another term for folding in poker. A poker player drops his card on the poker table to show that he has folded.

Family pot - the pot in which almost all the players at the poker table joined in the first round of betting.

Fox hunt - this means to reveal what would have been the next card drawn. This is done only after a winner of the round has been declared. Some casinos allow this, but others do not, to avoid bitter feelings from poker players who would have won.

Hammer - in Texas Hold'em poker, this is a 7-2 hand, not suited. This is considered by many to be the worst hand in Texas Hold'em poker.

Hunt - in poker, this is an act of looking at the card in deck that would have been drawn next.

Rabbit hunt - is related to the fox hand. In community card poker game, like Texas Hold'em for example, the last of the community cards may not have been drawn due to somebody has already won because everybody else folded. To show the last of the community card at this point is called the rabbit hand, which is not allowed in many poker tournaments and casinos.
